Best hardware specs for a smooth high-refresh-rate gaming rig?

Hello everyone! My current graphics card and processor are starting to struggle with some of the newer multiplayer titles dropping this year, and frame drops during intense team fights are driving me crazy. I'm trying to plan out a solid upgrade path that won't break the bank. Hey man, I feel you — those frame drops in team fights are the worst.
For smooth 144Hz in current multiplayer titles (especially if you're playing at 1440p), a lot of people right now are running:

RTX 4070 / 4070 Super — excellent price/performance for 144Hz
RTX 4070 Ti Super — if you want more headroom
RX 7800 XT — strong alternative if you prefer AMD

If your CPU is also starting to bottleneck (especially in CPU-heavy multiplayer games), something like a Ryzen 5 7600 / 7600X or Intel 13600K/14600K would pair nicely without going crazy on budget.
As for waiting for next-gen — unless you need the upgrade right now, it might be worth waiting a bit. New cards usually drop in the next few months, and prices on current gen often drop right after. But if the frame drops are already ruining games for you, a solid 4070 Super build will keep you happy for a good while.
